FoxyTunes supports the Pandora/Last.fm mashup
By popular demand, our latest beta (1.3.5) supports the PandoraFM mashup.
Users told us that they like using FoxyTunes with Pandora, but many of them are listening to Pandora through the PandoraFM mashup, and they were missing the FoxyTunes goodies when they did.
So, your wish is our command! Grab the latest beta and enjoy!
Pandora and Last.fm are the most popular music discovery services out there. While there are Last.fm and Pandora enthusiasts that argue that one service is substantially better than the other, many of us music lovers find that both services are great for discovering new music and are using both Pandora and Last.fm on a daily basis.
I believe that it should be all about the music - I don’t want to choose between Pandora and Last.fm, I don’t want to choose between iTunes and Winamp. I love them all and find that each one has its own advantages. I’d like to think that FoxyTunes reflects this point of view ![]()

Cool! It’s great to see PandoraFM support! I think it will be a great companion to it.
Here’s an idea, if it’s at all possible. You can access Pandora’s controls via keyboard shortcuts. I noticed when in “Pandora mode” Foxytunes controls are disabled. Would it be at all possible to send the keyboard shortcuts and activate those buttons? I’m not sure if it is possible (specific tab, directly to the flash application), but they’re listed in the FAQ here under “Q: Are there any keyboard shortcuts?” http://blog.pandora.com/faq/
Great job!

Thanks! This is brilliant and now it brings together three really great things all in one package, Foxytunes+Pandora+Last.fm! Thankyou very much for your support of this! If I only have one minor niggle, could it be possible to have the song/artist formatted like it is with other players (ie Artist - Song Title) Thanks for the great extension and the continued support and development!

Hey Gabe!
Thanks for the keyboard shortcuts tip - I’ll see what can be done…
And thanks for your great job on PandoraFM!
Cheers,
Alex

Thanks Alex!
The beta works great.
The only problem is that if the pandorafm tab freezes the artist/song in the tab name (which happens occasionally), so does Foxytunes… so it doesn’t update when a new song plays. The only way to fix this is to refresh the pandorafm page. Any thoughts on this?

Klim: I’ll look into this and see what can be done. How often do you see this problem? Can it be easily reproduced?

I’m new to Foxytunes. Checked it out before but only decided to try it when I saw Pandora was supported. Now I see the PandoraFM is supported. Cool! Only problem is I can’t figure out how to use PandoraFM. I’ve downloaded v1.9 and I see the option for Pandora, but not for PandoraFM. Help a newbie out and tell me what I’m missing please.

Hi Chad,
You can open the PandoraFM site as usual and make sure that ‘Pandora’ is selected as your player in FoxyTunes. Then, FoxyTunes will display the song currently playing on PandoraFM and will raise the PandoraFM tab when you press the ‘Show Player’ button.

Thanks! Figured it would be something simple I was overlooking.
